The White Cliffs

Category Natural landmarks 0.00 BGN Duration (minutes): 60

The White Cliffs are a key attraction located in the northern part of the picturesque region of Byala. The cliffs represent a continuous geological profile of limestone and are only the fourth place in the world, which testify to a huge cosmic cataclysm dating back 65 million years. During this period (Cretaceous-Tertiary), when the Earth was ruled by dinosaurs, a huge meteorite hit the planet near Mexico. The consequences reach as far as the territory of today's town of Byala, which is 10,000 km away from the impact.

When visiting the White Cliffs, you can find the remains of fossils of marine life and imprints of algae on the rocks. The cliffs are a natural geological museum, where different periods of the earth's crust can be traced. They were first discovered by the Australian geologist Anton Prizinger.
